How does Eastside Homeschool PTSA work?

Eastside Homeschool PTSA is a member-run organization. That means that as a cooperative member, you have a voice in what classes, clubs, and social events you’d like to see offered here. It also means that you take responsibility for a small part of the care, maintenance, and growth of our organization. Members participate in planning meetings throughout the year, and are welcome at any time to submit requests for classes or events they would like to see offered, or to submit proposals for events or classes they would like to organize or teach.

What are the parent commitments?

The commitments we ask of our members are pretty simple:
1) Be involved through volunteer activities such as assisting in the classroom, clean up, organizing socials, fundraising, etc.
2) Be involved in various volunteer projects for our building host, East Shore Unitarian Church.
3) Be respectful of other members. We serve a broad base of homeschoolers from all walks of life and homeschooling styles.
4) Be responsible for your parent jobs.

What are parent jobs?

We ask one parent from each family to sign up for an ongoing set up, clean up, or break down job each year. Most jobs require a time commitment of less than 10 minutes each week and can be done on-site while your child is in class. We have a wide variety of jobs; if the one assigned to you is not something you feel you can do, please speak with the Maintenance Committee to have it changed. You will need to arrange for coverage for days you must miss.

Parents are also required to serve on one committee of their choice. Contact Jen Wilson to make your selection.

How do I register?

See our registration page for details.

Where is EHPTSA located?

Starting in September 2019, our classes will be held at East Shore Unitarian Church in the Education Building 12700 SE 32nd Street, Bellevue, WA.

Can I come by for a visit?

You are welcome to come by anytime we have classes. However, it would be best to schedule a time so we can arrange for someone to meet you and give a tour. To schedule a visit, please email

When does EHPTSA meet?

For the 2019-2020 school year, starting Monday, September 9th. We will have classes Mondays from 11am-3:40pm and Fridays from 10am-2:40pm.

Do parents need to remain in the building during classes?

It is a requirement of EHPTSA’s program, that parents stay on the premises with their child. If you need to leave campus, please sign your child out to another parent, on site, who is willing and able to be responsible for your child until your return. Children 12 years of age or older, may apply to attend coop without a parent. See the board if you are interested in this option.

Can I join mid-year?

Yes, we accept new members anytime. If you have questions about whether a class is suitable to join mid-year, please email for more information.

Weather Closures?

EHPTSA follows the Bellevue School District’s (BSD) official call for inclement weather and East Shore Unitarian Church follows Bellevue College’s. If either BSD or BC calls for “no school,” we will not meet. If BSD calls for “late arrival,” we will proceed as usual. Makeup days will occur at the end of the school year, if needed.
